Tommie Kerstens

My story

My name is Tommie Kerstens, I was born on the 27th of may 1988 in Amsterdam. This is where I grew up. When I was at the age of 8 I started with competitive swimming. Swimming became an increasingly bigger part of my life as I grew older. In 2007 I moved to Eindhoven to start swimming here at PSV. I tried combining study and sport but this turned out to be too much.

In 2009 I decided to quit swimming and focus on my study. From the moment I quit swimming a large void came into my life; going from 16 training hours a week to zero is a pretty intense change. But soon the void was filled with plenty of other activities, and in the beginning my addiction to sports kept taking over but soon also other hobbies arose. I started doing kickboxing, weightlifting, dancing and playing the piano.

Recently I also picked up an old passion of mine: 3D-animation. I would love to do something in this direction later in life, having my own animation design studio is my biggest dream, after Industrial Design I hope to spend more time developing this skill and turn it into my profession.
